Congratulations to our Under 17 Premiers!
The North Beach Under 17’s travelled to Treeby last Sunday for the grand final clash against Rockingham Sharks. After some emotional words from 1st grade player Kani Solomon, they ran on to the field ready for kick off.
The first half went back and forth with some strong runs from Elijah and Lavin and a clever kicking game from Darius leading to a beautiful offload from Dezmin which created space for Sam to put Eden in for a try in the corner. Latrelle’s conversion levelled the scores at 6-6.
After an error and another Rockingham try, some good lead up work from Regan created space for Tiger to put Leighton in for a try in the corner. After a great defensive set by Xander we headed to halftime at 10-10. The second half started with Manaia, Julius and Stirling running through the Sharks defensive line at will. Euston was tackling anything that moved, a monster hit from Lyriq forced an error. Later in the next set, Jake was able to capitalise and with Latrelle’s conversion we went to a 16-10 lead.
From that point on, North Beach took control with some strong charges from Jack leading to Jayden getting out of dummy half on a 70m solo effort for a try in the corner and a 20-10 lead. A lovely short ball from Darius put Reuben into space and another short ball had Jake crossing for his 2nd try and a 24-10 lead with 7 minutes to play. A late Sharks try gave a final score line of 24-16.
Jayden was judged a deserving player of the match. A great team effort and a great result for a very talented group of young men.
